Ethiopia’s diverse landscapes and ancient coffee traditions create exceptional beans. The Gedeb region, located in the renowned Yirgacheffe area, offers ideal conditions for coffee cultivation, with high elevations, rich volcanic soils, and a microclimate that nurtures complex, vibrant flavor profiles.
Founded by Wubit Bekele, a university-educated coffee professional, Ephtah Specialty Coffee aims to transform the coffee industry by supporting women farmers. Their mission extends beyond commerce, focusing on sustainable supply chains and creating meaningful economic opportunities in coffee-growing communities.
This extended natural process begins with carefully selected ripe cherries. Farmers float the cherries to remove defects, then spread them on raised drying beds under a specialized greenhouse roof. Over 20-25 days, workers meticulously turn the cherries, ensuring even drying and preserving the beans’ inherent sweetness and complexity.
