We’re massive fans of the work of Jonny Alvarado and his mill – Corazón de Jesús. We’re not alone in that – they’ve had many, many podium finishes in the Costa Rica Cup of Excellence, including 1st place washed and 3rd place honey/natural category in the most recent (2025) competition. We featured coffee from the Los Toños plot last year (and indeed, have more on the way this year) – as we buy more lots from Jonny we’re going to add the abbreviation “CDJ” in the coffee name to indicate it’s from his mill.
This Typica natural “reposado” lot really stood out on the cupping table when we had offer samples earlier in the year – we found it super sweet and like pure purple in a cup.
